Velvé Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Velvé (“Velvé”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from tryvelve.co.za (the “Site”). We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa.

1. Information we collect

When you browse the Site or place an order, we collect:

  • Information you give us — your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, and order details when you make a purchase or contact us.
  • Payment information — payments are processed securely by our payment provider (Yoco) and Shopify Payments. We do not store your full card details on our servers.
  • Device & usage information — your IP address, browser type, device information, and how you interact with the Site, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies.

2. How we use your information

  • To process, fulfil and deliver your orders (including handing delivery details to our courier, Aramex).
  • To communicate with you about your order, respond to enquiries and provide customer support.
  • To send you marketing communications about Velvé products — only where you have consented, and you can opt out at any time.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, and to keep the Site secure.
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

3. Legal basis for processing (POPIA)

We process your personal information where it is necessary to perform our contract with you (to fulfil your order), where you have given consent (for example, marketing), where we have a legitimate interest (such as securing the Site and improving our service), or where we are required to do so by law.

4. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted third parties who help us run our business, including:

  • Shopify — our e-commerce platform, which hosts the Site and processes orders.
  • Yoco / Shopify Payments — to process payments securely.
  • Aramex and other couriers — to deliver your order.
  • Service providers that help us with email, analytics and marketing, bound by confidentiality obligations.

Some of these providers may process or store data outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection in line with POPIA.

5. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, understand how the Site is used, and to support marketing. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the Site may not work properly if you do.

6. How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes set out in this policy, including to meet any legal, accounting or reporting requirements, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.

7. How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including secure (SSL) connections and reputable, secured service providers — to protect your personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

8. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request that we correct or update inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request that we delete your personal information, where we are not legally required to keep it.
  • Object to the processing of your personal information, including for direct marketing.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below.
